Beadlet Rockflower Anemone
(Anthostella stephensoni)
Anthostella stephensoni Anemone is best suited for well-established aquariums with stable water parameters and ample live rock for secure attachment. This species prefers rocky substrates and shaded or low-light areas of the aquarium and may reposition itself to find a suitable location. It features slender, elongated tentacles surrounding a central oral disc. Feed small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, or planktonic foods. Anthostella stephensoni does not rely heavily on photosynthesis and thrives under low to moderate lighting conditions. Invertebrates do not tolerate copper-based medications. This small, cryptic anemone is often encountered as a hitchhiker on live rock and is not known to host clownfish. It is valued for its subtle coloration and interesting behavior rather than symbiotic relationships. Coloration typically ranges from translucent beige to light brown, and it remains small, usually only a few inches in diameter, making it suitable for nano and reef aquariums. Water Conditions: Salinity: 1.023 – 1.025 | Temperature: 72 – 78°F | pH: 8.1 – 8.4 | Alkalinity: 8 – 12 dKH
