Gold Nugget Wrasse

(Xenojulis margaritacea)

Provide an aquarium with ample rock work with plenty of cracks crevices and caves for hiding and resting. Xenojulis Wrasse are burrowers and need a deep sand bed to sleep and rest in. Harems can be kept in the aquarium with 1 male and several females if added at the same time. Xenojulis are hermaphrodites, starting as juveniles/females and may turn into a male at some point in its life. They are carnivores and will consume invertebrates like marine worms, crustaceans, dove snails, limpets, fish larvae, squid and may pick at coral polyps. Provide a diet rich in meaty based foods as well as small amounts of seaweed for continued good health. Provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Wrasse will jump.

Gold Nugget Wrasse are generally a dark red with a paler colored belly, irregular green, dark red stripes on their head and a yellow iris. Gold Nugget Wrasse can grow to 4".
