Four Line Wrasse

(Larabicus quadrilineatus)

Larabicus Wrasse are also known as cleaner Wrasse and should be added to aquariums with plenty of swim room. Provide ample rock work, crevices, cracks, caves and a deep sand bed. Juveniles will hide in the sand but adults will hide in cracks or caves. If seeing unwilliness to eat add fortified live mysis or Brine shrimp to their carnivorous diet. Juveniles act as cleaner Wrasse and and will require plenty of fish tank mates willing to be cleaned of any skin parasites. Adults feed mainly on stoney coral polyps but will also pick at soft corals, clam mantles and feather dusters. If adults are not eating offer live fortified Brine shrimp multiple times daily. Wrasse are hermaphrodites meaning they start as juveniles/females but at some point in their life may turn into a male. Provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as they may jump. Although Larabicus require tank mates to be peaceful they may also annoy their neighbors. Only one Cleaner Wrasse per aquarium as they may not get along.

The Four Line Wrasse are sometimes also known as the Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Four Line Wrasse are quite lovely with a basic black to blue body color, two bright blue horizontal stripes that run from their face to their caudal peduncle. Four Line Wrasse can grow to a little over 5".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
