Broad Banded Pipefish

(Dunckerocampus boylei)

Pipefish are closely related to Shrimpfish, Seahorses and Dragonets. Pipefish should be added to aquariums with plenty of rockwork with caves, cracks, crevices and ledges large enough to hide in. Dunckerocampus Pipefish may not eat immediately try feeding live enriched adult Brine Shrimp. Over time they should begin to accept frozen Brine, Mysis and Krill fed at least two times daily. Pipefish are slow swimmers and require slow water movement. Any filtration intakes should be equipped with strainers. They will require peaceful tank mates as they are shy fish.

Broad Banded Pipefish are also sometimes known as Boylei Pipefish. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Broad Banded Pipefish generally a white to cream colored body with thick red to brown body bands. Broad Banded Pipefish can grow to a little over 6".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
