Bearded Leatherjacket

(Anacanthus barbatus)

Anacanthus Filefish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Filefish are slow swimmers, an aquarium with low water flow is required. Plenty of rock work with caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. Filefish primarily feed on algae which should be fed twice daily. Filefish are generally shy and should only be housed with other peaceful fish.

Bearded Leatherjacket are also sometimes known as Barbeled, Jumping or Ribbon Leatherjacket. Not often seen in the aquarium trade. Bearded Leatherjackets are a tan to dark brown color overall. Bearded Leatherjackets can grow to almost 12".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 120 gallons or larger for this species.
