Bali Storm Ocellaris Clownfish, Bali Aquarich
(Amphiprion ocellaris)
Ocellaris Clowns should be added to a well-established marine aquarium with stable parameters, ample rockwork, and open swimming space. Also known as anemonefish, they are hardy, reef safe, and relatively easy to care for, making them an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. Like other clownfish species, they may form a symbiotic relationship with host anemones, gaining protection among the tentacles while providing food scraps and cleaning in return. They may become territorial, particularly when defending their chosen host or breeding site. Females are larger than males, and like all clownfish, they are protandrous hermaphrodites—juveniles first mature as males, with the dominant individual transitioning to female if needed. They can be kept singly or as a bonded pair, and aquacultured specimens such as these from Bali Aquarich are typically hardy, well-adjusted, and readily accept prepared foods. The Bali Storm Clownfish is a highly sought-after designer variety known for its dramatic, irregular white patterning across an orange base. Each specimen displays unique “storm-like” markings, often with exaggerated white barring and intricate pattern breaks that make every fish one of a kind. Adults typically reach approximately 3 inches in length, making them well suited for reef and peaceful community aquariums. A varied diet of high-quality meaty and herbivore-based marine foods should be provided. Offer frozen mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, premium marine pellets, and algae-based preparations to ensure balanced nutrition, vibrant coloration, and long-term vitality. We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
