Spiny Head Cardinalfish

Apogon Cardinalfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work with caves and ledges should be provided for grazing and hiding. Most Apogon Cardinalfish are peaceful schooling fish but carefully research each species before adding to your aquarium. A diverse diet of enriched meaty foods should be provided for continued good health. Most Apogon Cardinalfish are active at night and rest during the day. Some Cardinalfish are mouth brooders research each species to ensure the appropriate care is given. They are slow methodical swimmers house with other peaceful tank mates.

The Spiny Head Cardinalfish is not often seen in the aquarium trade. The species of Cardinalfish is a metallic color with juvenile having a dark spot on their caudal peduncle. As the fish matures the spot begins to fade and become smaller. Adults often lack the spot altogether. Spiny Head Cardinalfish can grow to almost 6".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
