Rippled Rockskipper

(Istiblennius edentulous)

Istiblennius Blennies should be added to well established aquariums. Provide plenty of rockwork with crevices, and rocky areas. Provide a diet rich in meaty and algae based foods several times daily. If not sufficiently fed Istiblennius may pick at corals or clam mantles. Marked differences have been seen between males and females. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.

The Rippled Rockskipper is also known as the Rippled, Smooth Lipped, Toothless or Coral Blenny. Not commonly seen in the aquarium trade the males and females may have slightly color differences. Males are a dusy color with five to six bands on its body and light colored strips on their dorsal fin, females are a bit paler in color with the posterior bands broken into small spots and the dorsal fin is spotted. Rippled Rockskipper can grow to a little over 6".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species.
