Gulf Blenny

Ecsenius Blennies are sometimes referred to as Clown Blennies. Blennies should be added to well established aquariums. Rock work should be provided for perching, hiding and grazing. Ecsenius Blennies are considered to be easy and peaceful however, can become aggressive to other fish resembling their shape. If sufficient algae is not present supplement with algae based foods and algae matter. Males tend to be larger than females. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.

The Gulf Blenny is also known as the Red Tail Blenny. Very rarely and newly seen in the aquarium trade. Gulf Blennies have an overall dark gray body coloration with yellow to orange vertical bands on the back half of its body along with the anal and tail fin having a bright yellow color. Gulf Blenny can grow to 2".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
