Striated Wrasse

(Pseudocheilinus evanidus)

Pseudocheilinops Wrasse are small, shy and secretive fish generally found among heavy coral growth. Pseudocheilinops Wrasse should be added to a large well established aquarium with plenty of swimroom as they are open water swimmers. . Provide plenty of rockwork with cracks, caves and crevices for hiding. Pseudocheilinops can be kept with other peaceful tank mates but only 1 male per aquarium. Wrasse are hermaphrodites meaning they start as juveniles/females but at some point in their life may turn into a male. Provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as they may jump.

The Striated Wrasse are also sometimes known as the Secretive Wrasse. Occasionally seen in the aquarium trade. Striated Wrasse coloration may vary depending upon maturity, collection area or breeding period. Males have a red to orange body, thin horizontal stripes and one white stripe that runs from the fishs snout under the eye to the gill plate. Females will have a subdued color and smaller size. Striated Wrasse can grow to a little over 3".
