Super Black Percula Clownfish, Pair
(Amphiprion percula)
Percula Clownfish should be added to a well-established marine aquarium with stable parameters, ample rockwork, and open swimming space. Also known as anemonefish, they are hardy, reef safe, and well suited for community reef aquariums. They may form a symbiotic relationship with host anemones, gaining protection among the tentacles while providing food scraps and cleaning in return. While generally more peaceful than Maroon Clownfish, they may still become territorial when defending a host anemone or breeding site. Females are larger than males, and like all clownfish, they are protandrous hermaphrodites—juveniles first mature as males, with the dominant individual transitioning to female when necessary. This Super Black Percula pair is already socially established, helping reduce aggression and making them an excellent choice for aquarists looking to keep a compatible duo. The Super Black Percula Clownfish is a striking designer variety prized for its dramatically dark body coloration. As they mature, the orange base coloration deepens to an intense black, contrasted by bold white vertical bands edged in black. This high-contrast patterning makes them a standout centerpiece in reef aquariums. Adults typically reach up to approximately 3 inches in length. A varied diet of high-quality meaty and herbivore-based marine foods should be provided. Offer frozen mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, premium marine pellets, and algae-based preparations to promote optimal health, coloration, and long-term vitality. We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
