Golden Sailfin Blenny

(Atrosalarias fuscus juv.)

Atrosalarias Blennies should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of places to hide. They prefer shallow reef flats, coral beds and slopes with empty barnacles or worm/mollusk tubes for hiding. Blennies have an incredible appetite for algae. If a large supply of algae is not present be sure to add a steady supply for Blennies to thrive. Males tend to be larger then females and colors will vary during breeding season. Most Blennies lack or have very small swim bladders. Be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid as Blennies may jump.

The Black Sailfin Blenny is also known as the Highfin or Algae Blenny. Commonly seen in the aquarium trade. Black Sailfin Blennies are mainly black with colors varying during the breeding season. Males are a bit larger than the females. Black Sailfin Blenny can grow to 5".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
