Yellow Podge

(Pseudogramma xantha)

Pseudogramma Basslets should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rockwork, caves, cracks, crevices and coral overhangs. Provide a diet of meaty enriched and live foods. May harass crustaceans and smaller fish. Although a secretive and shy fish that generally only comes out of its home to eat they can be aggressive and territorial. Pseudogramma are considered miniature Soapfish. They may release a toxin call grammistin when threatenedd or die that looks like soap. Pseudogramma's may jump be sure to provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid.

The Yellow Podge is also known as the Lava Pseudogramma. This unusually colored fish is not often seen in the aquarium trade. Yellow Podge are an overall red to orange coloration, yellow edged fins, as well as having facial spots. Yellow Podge can grow to 5".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species.
