Orangebar Anthias
(Pseudanthias engelhardi/carlsoni)
Pseudanthias engelhardi / carlsoni should be added to well-established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Abundant rockwork with caves, cracks, and crevices should be provided to offer secure resting and retreat areas. Engelhardi / Carlsoni Anthias are reef safe and thrive on a diet of enriched, meaty marine foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, copepods, and plankton-based preparations. They should be kept well fed with multiple small feedings throughout the day. Anthias perform best when maintained in groups or harems and prefer to swim in the mid-level areas of the aquarium. Like other anthias, this species is hermaphroditic, meaning individuals may change sex over the course of their lives. Anthias are known jumpers, so a tight-fitting lid is strongly recommended. Males and females may display different coloration, with males typically showing more intense hues. Pseudanthias engelhardi / carlsoni is prized for its striking coloration, typically displaying vibrant pink to orange bodies with contrasting yellow to pink accents that intensify under proper lighting. Coloration may vary between the two closely related species and individual specimens. This species can grow to approximately 5 inches in length. We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 90 gallons or larger for this species. Water Conditions: Salinity: 1.020 – 1.025 Temperature: 72 – 78°F pH: 8.1 – 8.4 Alkalinity: 8 – 12 dKH
