False Shepard's Angelfish, Hybrid

(Centropyge loriculus X ferrugata)

Centropyge loriculus × ferrugata Hybrid Angelfish should be added to well-established aquariums with plenty of open swimming space. Ample rockwork with caves, cracks, and crevices should be provided for grazing and shelter. Like other dwarf angelfish, this hybrid may nip at both mobile and sessile invertebrates, so caution is advised in reef aquariums. A varied diet of marine meaty foods, angelfish preparations, and algae-based foods should be offered multiple times daily. Care should be taken when handling angelfish, as they possess cheek spines; avoid using nets when possible. Centropyge hybrids are not hermaphroditic, but they may be territorial toward other dwarf angelfish of similar size or shape. Males and females may show subtle color differences, and juveniles may display slightly different patterns compared to adults. The Centropyge loriculus × ferrugata hybrid exhibits a striking combination of vibrant orange, blue, and purple coloration inherited from its parent species, making it one of the most visually appealing dwarf angelfish in the aquarium trade. This hybrid typically grows to approximately 4 inches in length and adds a splash of color and activity to reef or mixed-species tanks. We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 70 gallons or larger for this species. Water Conditions: Salinity: 1.020 – 1.025 | Temperature: 72 – 78°F | pH: 8.1 – 8.4 | Alkalinity: 8 – 12 dKH
