Goldflake Angelfish

(Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus)

Apolemichthys Angelfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work, caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. Apolemichthys Angelfish may pick at sponge, tunicates, benthic organisms or sessile Invertebrates. A diet of meaty and algae based foods along with Angelfish preparations which include sponge should be provided. Care will need to be taken when handling Angelfish as they have cheekspines, avoid using nets when handling. Apolemichthys Angelfish are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. Juvenile Apolemichthys Angelfish may exhibit color or pattern differences. May be territorial towards other Angelfish with the same shape.

The Goldflake Angelfish is also known as Golden Spotted or Gold Spangled Angelfish. Goldflake Angelfish have recently become more readily available in the hobby. They exhibit velvety black dorsal, anal and caudal fins and electric blue trim along with a brilliantly blue colored mouth. Typically found in the rocky reefs or under overhangs. They can grow to a little over 9".
