Engineer Goby
(Pholidichthys leucotaenia)
Pholidichthys Gobies should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of stable rockwork, caves, cracks and crevices for hiding. Provide some driftwood, rocks and sand as they are burrowers. Pholidichthys Gobies are very active and should be offered open swim areas. These are easy and hardy fish and will make a great addition to most aquariums. Generally they are peaceful but can become a bit territorial to similar species. Pholidichthys have also been seen in freshwater and brackish areas. Feed a diet rich in meaty foods fed twice daily.
Engineer Goby are also sometimes known simply as the Convict Goby. Rarely seen in the aquarium trade. Juvenile and adult Engineer Gobies may appear with different colors and patterns. Juveniles are black and white as they mature the stripes begin to take on a convict appearance. Engineer Gobies can grow to just slightlyly over 14".
We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 100 gallons or larger for this species.
