Quality Marine's Philosophy and Commitment
Quality Marine believes that responsible, managed and regulated sustainable wild harvest can coexist with reef stewardship and when grounded in science, can serve as a model for sustainable marine fisheries management. We have collaborated for years with partners including the Pet Advocacy Network (PAN) and West Hawaii fishers to advance practical, science-based solutions that support sustainable levels of wild harvest.
This position is inseparable from our core approach to supply: balancing sustainable wild harvest, with meaningful support and investment for overseas and domestic aquaculture to augment continuous variety and availability. We endeavor to offer alternatives where wild populations might be too pressured, to offer choice to consumers, and to smooth seasonal, logistical and geopolitical impact on supply.
To that end, we ourselves have made significant investments in aquaculture through QM Labs to expand reliable, sustainable availability for the trade, while remaining committed to responsible wild harvest that supports the livelihoods of local fishing communities, where few alternatives exist.
Quality Marine supports a science-based reopening of the West Hawaii marine ornamentals fishery that matches our values: responsible wild harvest with meaningful support of and investment in science-based oversight.
