The male Red Lyretail Anthias is a vibrant, active marine fish prized for its striking red coloration and flowing lyretail fins. Ideally kept in well-established reef aquariums of at least 70 gallons, they thrive in stable saltwater conditions with a temperature of 75–82°F, pH 8.1–8.4, and specific gravity of 1.020–1.025. As schooling fish, they do best in groups with a single dominant male among several females to mimic natural social structures. Their diet should be high in protein, including frozen or live mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and quality marine pellets, offered 2–3 times daily to maintain health and vibrant coloration. Providing plenty of swimming space, hiding spots among rocks, and excellent water quality is essential for keeping the Male Red Lyretail Anthias thriving in a reef environment.
