Green Finger Algae
(Codium sp.)
Codium algae are found in various marine habitats, including tide pools, rocky shores, and subtidal areas. They attach to rocks and other hard substrates, often growing in sheltered or moderately exposed areas. Codium algae can grow in different forms, including branched or unbranched clumps. In some species, the branches are more delicate and finger-like, while in others, they may form a more spongy mass. It's essential to avoid using copper-based treatments in a tank with invertebrates, as it can harm them. Always follow the recommended guidelines for medication use in marine aquariums.
Codium Algae may also be known as Green Finger Algae or Dead Man's Finger.. Codium typically has a dark green to olive-green coloration. It consists of fine, branched filaments that form dense tufts or clumps, giving it a distinctive appearance. Codium Algae can grow up to 15" depending on its environment.
