Golden Sweeper

(Parapriacanthus ransonneti)

Provide an aquarium with ample rockwork, caves, cracks, crevices, overhangs and wide open swim areas. Sweepers may not ship well so extra special care should be provided when adding them to the aquarium. Sweepers are best kept in small groups. Low lighting should be provided as they are nocturnal fish. Sweepers are peaceful and should be housed with other peaceful fish. When first acclimating offer live foods, when feeding well begin offering meaty prepared foods. Once acclimated Sweepers will readily accept most foods, fed multiple times daily.

Golden Sweepers are also sometimes known as the Ransonnet’s Bullseye, Rosy Sweeper or Yellow Sweeper. They are sometimes seen in the aquarium trade although it is not particularly common. Golden Sweepers have a sleek and slender body with a yellow-golden coloration, a dark stripe running from the snout to the base of the tail, and large eyes. They can grow up to 5 inches in length.

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
