Dr. Seuss Fish

Belonoperca Basslets prefer cool and dimly light aquariums with plenty of caves, cracks, crevices overhangs and ledges. Belonoperca Basslets may consume fish or invertebrates that they can fit in their mouths but generally leave coral alone. Belonoperca Basslets are predatory and need a diet of meaty enriched foods. They can release a toxin call grammistin when threatened or die that looks like soap. Belonoperca Basslets are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. They may jump provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid.

The Dr. Seuss Fish is also known as the Orange Spotted Soapfish. This quite rare and uniquely colored fish has a red pink body with orange to red spots. Dr. Seuss Fish can grow to 3".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
