Colored Sargassum Anglerfish

Histrio Frogfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of rockwork, craves, cracks and crevices, a sandy bottom as well as ledges for perching. Histrio Frogfish may also like an area of drifting seaweed to hunt for prey. A diet of live meaty foods should be provided, but be careful to not overfeed. Histrio Frogfish will eat any crustaceans or fish they can attract. . Histrio Frogfish have been known to consume fish many times its size. They have also been known to cannibalize. Histrio Frogfish have the ability to change color blending into its surroundings, which may enhance their hunting abilitities

The Sargassum Anglerfish is also known as the Sargassumfish or Sargassum Frogfish. Rarely collected in the aquarium trade this unique Anglerfish is often a yellowish color with multiple brown patches on its body. However, they may camouflage themselves to match their surroundings. Sargassum Anglerfish can grow to 8".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 50 gallons or larger for this species.
