Maculosus Angelfish, Juvenile

Pomacanthus Angelfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work, caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. Pomacanthus angels may pick at sponge, tunicates, benthic organisms or sessile invertebrates. A diet of meaty and algae based foods along with Angel preperations which include sponge should be provided. Care will need to be taken when handling Angelfish as they have cheekspines, avoid using nets when handling. Pomacanthus Angelfish are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. Juvenile Pomacanthus Angelfish may exhibit color or pattern differences. May be territorial towards other Angelfish with the same shape.

The Maculosis Angelfish is also known as the Yellowbar or Map Angelfish. Juvenile Maculosis Angelfish have a black body and head with light blue and white bands running vertically. Juveniles tails are clear but as they mature they begin to turn yellow. Adults are a varying shades of blue with a yellow tail and a yellow stripe running down the middle of its body shaped like a crescent moon. Maculosis Angelfish can grow to 20".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 250 gallons or larger for this species.
