Conspicuous Angelfish

(Chaetodontoplus conspicillatus)

Chaetodontoplus Angelfish should be added to well established aquariums with plenty of room to swim. Plenty of rock work, caves, cracks and crevices should be provided for grazing and hiding. Chaetodontoplus Angelfish may pick at mobile and sessile invertebrates. A diet of marine meaty, angel and algae based foods should be provided multiple times daily. Care will need to be taken when handling Angelfish as they have cheeks pines, avoid using nets when handling. Chaetodontoplus Angelfish are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. May be territorial towards other Angelfish with the same shape. Males and females may exhibit slightly color differences. Most juveniles and adults of the Chaetodontoplus Angelfish may exhibit marked color or pattern differences.

The Conspicuous Angelfish is also known as the Conspic Angelfish or Spectacled Angelfish. The juveniles and adults are quite different looking. Juveniles have a very dark bottom half fading to a yellow coloration and finally fading to a bright white color. As the fish matures the color changes drastically with adults sporting a blue gray upper half of its body with the lower portion much darker, yellow face, blue lips, blue rings around its eyes and dorsal and anal fins being black and edged in yellow. Conspicuous Angelfish can grow to 10".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 180 gallons or larger for this species.
