Assessor Basslets are generally hardy and peaceful aquarium inhabitants. Provide a well established aquarium with plenty of coral and rock cover with cracks, caves and crevices as Assessor Basslets need areas to rest in. Assessor Basslets are hermaphroditic meaning they may have both sex organs at some point in their lives. Assessor Basslets are reef safe, provide a diet of meaty enriched foods. Most Basslets remain on the small side so make a great nano reef inhabitant. Male Basslets tend to be more brightly colored than females. Basslets may jump provide an aquarium with a tight fitting lid.

The Gold Assessor Basslet is also known as the Yellow Devilfish or Yellow Scissortail fish. Gold Assessor Basslets are commonly seen in the aquarium trade. They are a radiant yellow color with red to orange stripe from its eye to the edge of the operculum. There is also a red to orange bar on the dorsal and anal fins. Gold Assessor Basslet can grow to slightly more that 2".

We recommend a minimum aquarium size of 30 gallons or larger for this species.
