Tricolor Oranda Goldfish
The Tricolor Oranda Goldfish is a beautiful fancy variety of Carassius auratus prized for its striking combination of red, white, and black coloration, along with the characteristic fleshy head growth, or wen, that develops as it matures. This peaceful and slow-moving goldfish thrives in spacious aquariums of at least 30 gallons per fish or large ponds in suitable climates, with excellent filtration to manage its substantial waste production. Ideal water conditions include temperatures between 65–75°F, a pH of 6.5–8.0, and stable, well-oxygenated water. Tricolor Orandas are omnivores that do best on a varied diet of high-quality sinking goldfish pellets, gel foods, blanched vegetables, and occasional treats such as bloodworms or brine shrimp. Because of their rounded body shape and flowing fins, they should be housed with other fancy goldfish rather than fast-swimming or aggressive species. Regular maintenance and careful monitoring of wen growth are important for long-term health. With proper care, the Tricolor Oranda Goldfish becomes a graceful, interactive, and colorful centerpiece that can live for many years in a well-maintained aquarium.
