The Zebra Plecostomus (Hypancistrus zebra) L46 is one of the most revered armored catfish in the aquarium hobby, with good reason. It’s brilliantly highlighted black lateral lines against a white body immediately draws your attention as it contrasts not only with the aquarium surroundings itself but also other fish or plecos it is displayed with. This showstopper hails from Brazil in the Rio Xingu and Pará Rivers. The Zebra Pleco stays relatively small, reaching no more than 3 to 4 inches or approximately 7 to 10cm. In recent years efforts have been made to protect them in their natural habitat, including cites listings to cut down on illegal and mass smuggling of the species. Aquatropic is proud to carry and make available captive-reared specimens to keep this species in the aquarium trade sustainably.
