Red Tiger Golden/Orange Eye Shrimp
The Red Tiger Golden/Orange Eye Shrimp is a colorful freshwater ornamental shrimp prized for its red tiger-like stripes and bright golden-orange eyes. It thrives in a mature, stable freshwater aquarium with plenty of live plants, moss, driftwood, and hiding places, ideally maintained at 68–74°F with a pH of approximately 5.5–6.8 and soft, low-mineral water. This shrimp is an omnivorous scavenger that feeds on biofilm, algae, decaying plant matter, and leftover food; supplement its diet with specialized shrimp pellets, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-rich foods. Avoid copper-based medications and sudden changes in water parameters, as shrimp are particularly sensitive to these conditions. It is generally peaceful and can be kept with other similarly sized, nonaggressive invertebrates, although breeding is best managed in a dedicated shrimp aquarium. Stable water quality, gentle filtration, and an established biofilm supply are essential for long-term health and successful breeding.
