The Polar Blue Convict Hybrid Parrot Cichlid is a selectively bred hybrid cichlid known for its rounded body, blue-gray coloration, and attractive dark markings. Combining traits associated with Convict Cichlids and Blood Parrot-type hybrids, these fish can have energetic personalities and considerable individual variation in appearance and behavior. A 55-gallon aquarium or larger is recommended for an adult, with sturdy filtration, open swimming space, caves, and smooth rockwork for shelter and territorial boundaries. Maintain temperatures around 76–80°F, a pH of 6.5–8.0, and clean, well-oxygenated water with regular water changes. They can be territorial, particularly when spawning, so tank mates should be similarly sized and robust; smaller or timid fish may be harassed. As omnivores, they thrive on quality cichlid pellets supplemented with spirulina, Gamma frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and other occasional protein-rich foods. Avoid sharp décor and provide ample swimming room, as the hybrid's body shape can make maneuvering more difficult than for naturally streamlined cichlids. With proper space, stable water quality, and a varied diet, the Polar Blue Convict Hybrid Parrot Cichlid can be a colorful and personable addition to a large freshwater community or cichlid aquarium.
