Green Pearl Mussel
The Green Pearl Mussel is a freshwater mussel known for its attractive greenish shell and pearly interior. It is a filter-feeding bivalve that removes microscopic suspended foods and organic particles from the water, making it best suited to a mature, well-established aquarium with naturally occurring microorganisms and a consistent supply of appropriately sized suspended foods. Provide a soft sandy or fine-gravel substrate so it can partially bury itself, along with stable water quality and good oxygenation. It is peaceful and non-aggressive, but because freshwater mussels can be difficult to sustain long-term in aquariums due to their specialized feeding requirements, it is generally better suited to experienced aquarists.
