Asian Moth Catfish
The Asian Moth Catfish is a small, unusual freshwater catfish from South and Southeast Asia known for its flattened body, broad head, and moth-like appearance. This peaceful bottom dweller prefers quiet, shaded environments with soft substrate, driftwood, leaf litter, and plenty of hiding spots that mimic its natural slow-moving streams and forest waters. In the aquarium, it does best in a mature tank of around 20 gallons or larger with gentle filtration, stable water conditions, and temperatures around 72–79°F (22–26°C). Asian Moth Catfish are nocturnal and spend much of the day resting under cover, becoming more active after lights-out. They accept sinking foods such as quality catfish pellets, frozen bloodworms, daphnia, and small insect-based foods. Because of their calm nature and small size, they make excellent additions to peaceful community aquariums with similarly gentle tankmates.
