Armoured Albino Catfish
The Armoured Albino Catfish is a hardy, peaceful freshwater species that thrives in a well-maintained aquarium of at least 30 gallons, with larger tanks recommended for groups. It prefers a temperature of 72–82°F, a pH of 6.0–8.0, and soft to moderately hard water. Provide a sandy or fine-gravel substrate, plenty of hiding places, driftwood, and live or artificial plants. This bottom-dwelling omnivore readily accepts sinking Nutramar pellets, wafers, frozen Gamma foods, and live foods such as bloodworms and insect larvae. Although generally peaceful, it may eat very small fish or invertebrates that fit in its mouth, so choose tankmates of a similar size and temperament. The Armoured Albino Catfish is also known for its ability to gulp atmospheric air, allowing it to tolerate lower dissolved oxygen levels, though good filtration and regular water changes remain essential.
