Red Lizard Catfish (Rineloricaria sp.)
This Catfish is one that seems to come out straight out of a dragon fairytale, so it's no wonder it is called the Red Lizard Catfish. Like most catfish, it is a peaceful bottom dwelling fish that will make an excellent addition to your clean-up crew. We recommend to add a small group for they are known to be highly interactive and will make a great display for your enjoyment. Yet, remember that adding a group the Red Lizard Catfish also means the possibility of spawning and ending-up with more catfish than originally intended. This is a fish that doesn't like bright lights. Thus, it does well in a planted aquarium because the plants will help shade them from the light. If you don't have a planted aquarium, that is not a problem. Creating a comfortable aquarium home is easy by providing a sandy bed of substrate with several pieces of driftwood or rock that can create caves for it to hide. They can grow up to 4.5 inches, so make sure their new aquarium home is large enough to swim around.
