The Medusa Bushy Nose Pleco L-034 is a striking, medium-sized Loricariid prized for its unique bristle-covered face and intricate dark patterning. Keeping one is fairly simple with the right setup: provide a 30–40 gallon tank with plenty of driftwood, caves, and shaded areas, as this species prefers dim lighting and secure hiding spots. A soft sand or smooth gravel substrate helps protect its delicate barbels. They thrive in clean, well-oxygenated water with temperatures of 74–80°F, a pH of 6.2–7.4, and low nitrates. Though generally peaceful, they can be territorial with other plecos, so offer multiple hides if housing more than one. Their diet should include a mix of sinking carnivore wafers, frozen foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp), and some vegetable matter such as blanched zucchini or spirulina wafers. Regular water changes, strong filtration, and stable parameters ensure excellent health and coloration, making the Medusa Pleco a rewarding and eye-catching addition to well-maintained freshwater aquariums.
