Without a doubt, the Flagtail Yellow Prochilodus (Semaprochilodus taeniurus) attracts hobbyists for its simple beauty. This fish is perfect for hobbyists with large aquariums for it can grow up to a foot in length. In terms of aquarium set-up, the Flagtail Yellow Prochilodus isn't demanding. The aquarium could be kept plain or arranged to reflect its natural environment. This could be done by adding a sandy substrate and a few drift wood pieces. It is an active fish and expert jumper, so we recommend that a tight canopy is included in the aquarium to prevent it from leaving its tank. This fish has an aggressive temperament, but it can live in a specimen aquarium with careful selection of tank mates. During feeding times provide it with a diet that consists mostly of dry foods with small amounts of meaty frozen foods.
