The Picks

Christmas is upon us already and we have one more week before the most challenging week in which to ship tropical fish across the US. There are a few rules of thumb to keep in mind when bringing in fish this time of year. Primarily, stock up right now. You shop can't sell what isn't there, and you don't want to be stuck competing with airplane cargo space with everyone and everything traveling over the weeks between Christmas and New Years. In those weeks there will be less space for cargo, increased passenger luggage and a good chance of inclement weather. All of these combined make for a sometimes tumultuous shipping experience.

For the wrasse collector we've got an outstanding supply of Super Male Lineatus wrasse (Cirrhilabrus lineatus) and some really stunning Scott's Male Fairy's from the Cook Islands (Cirrhilabrus scottorum). These are not your every day fairy wrasses, these are large males with exceptionally vivid coloration.

On the invert side of the house, we've been getting some phenomenal Birdsnest coral (Seriatapora hystrix) from our SSC in Tonga. They've been coming in large sizes with a mix of two types: one being solid pink and the other being pink with yellow / green tips. Ask your Account Manager to select a few cherry pieces for you. While you're at it ask them about Cultured Maximas, Cultured Derasa and Cultured Squamosa clams; you won't be disappointed.
