Bob's Picks

Friday July 20, 2012 marks the beginning of the Islamic month of fasting known as Ramadan. Many of the countries that provide tropical marine specimens have large Muslim populations. Because of this there can be interruptions in the normal chain of supply as the month progresses. The impact is usually most apparent at the end of the month which is signified by the festival Eid al Fitr. It is during this time and the 7 to 10 day period afterwards that the stock levels available from these countries will be at its lowest.

Fortunately here at Quality Marine we have an extensive global network of supply lines and are able to supplement any shortfall from a variety of sources. No one can predict absolutely the impact that will be felt, but based on our experience and wealth of historical data, we are able to better manage any supply hiccups like this that we may encounter. What is most important is that we do not have to deviate from our trusted lines of supply and avoid the difficulties that can arise when bringing on a new vendor. As always the health and welfare of the animals comes first so that we can make sure you receive the highest quality specimens possible.

From our Short Supply Chain in Fiji we have a really strong group of MAC Certified Queen Tuka Anthias (Pseudanthias tuka cf.). Queen Tukas can be a challenging anthias, and the absolute best way to get them is to pick SSC and MAC ones. These look very good right now.

We have a few Black Longnose Tangs (Zebrasoma rostratum) in house that are just gorgeous. They are in a range of sizes, all are conditioned well and eating. There is also a few very nice Black Longnose x Scopas hybrids (Zebrasoma rostratum x scopas).

We just received a small batch of MAC Two Tone Wrasses (Halichoeres prosopeion) from our SSC that are some of the nicest I have ever seen. There aren't many, but they look awesome so I just had to bring them up.

The selection of stunning Ultra Color Zoanthids (Zoanthid sp.) has to be seen to be believed. Add a couple rocks to your next order, they won't disappoint.

We have a good number of Australian Scolymia Corals (Scolymia australis) as well as a fresh shipment of Central Pacific Aquacultured Acropora (Acropora sp.). Call your sales rep to have them pick out few cherry pieces for you.
