Bob's Picks

September is here, school is in session and typical fall weather should be here soon. The cool temperatures will be a nice respite for most of us after the unseasonably warm weather weve been seeing throughout the US. Hopefully someday soon it will stop raining in the Rockies and Boulder can start the process of cleaning up and rebuilding. While Los Angeles has had a beautifully cool summer, recent hot weather around the rest of the country has required us to keep using our standard cool pack to keep your shipments from getting overheated. In an average year the weather out here in SoCal tends to run behind the rest of the country and it should stay warmer here longer than the rest of the nation. It is very important to keep your customer service representative informed of your local weather conditions so that we can make adjustments to how we pack your shipment to compensate for the temperatures experienced during transit.

As the seasons change, its also an opportune time to get ready for the upcoming holiday rush. The holiday season is approaching fast and with a little planning you can really improve your chances of making it a great one. Supply is picking up and we are expecting some real treats to show up daily as we prepare to provide our loyal customers with an almost mind-numbing selection. Stay tuned!

This week one of our Aquaculture Facilities sent us an absolutely outstanding batch of Cultured Ricordea Yuma (Ricordea yuma). The coloration is the best I've seen and the coverage is nearly perfect.

We also have a mindnumbing selection of Rose Bulb Anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor) that are a perfect medium size with very tight bulbs and brilliant color.

On the slightly more limited front, we have a few gorgeous Blue/Purple Flowerpot Corals (Goniopora sp.) that are a show stopping deep blue and have excellent polyp extension. There is one nice large piece and several mediums on the high side of their size range.

On the fish front, we have a great supply of Juvenile Garibaldi Damsels (Hypsypops rubicunda) with copious electric blue spots and a great small size. We also have some mediums and larges still with good coloration.

If you have been looking for a Clown Trigger (Balistoides conspicillum), your wait is over. We have a good selection of very healthy fish in a wide variety of sizes.

Every store should have at least a couple MAC Six Line Wrasses (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) because you are going to get a customer this fall who is going to have a problem with something, and chances are what ever that problem is, Six Line Wrasses will eat it. We have a good selection of super nice Short Supply Chain specimens in stock from Fiji.
