Bob's Picks

As we head into the holiday season there have been increased security regulations instituted by the TSA. One that has impacted us directly is that 100% of all cargo that is to be carried on any US bound passenger flights must be x-rayed before it will be loaded onto the aircraft. How this impacts the transit times for our shipments really depends on how modernized the originating cargo facilities are. In some cases the consignments must be re-inspected at the transfer hub which can add substantial travel time. Fortunately our acclimation staff is well experienced in handling situations like this and they can make adjustments according to depending on the arrival water quality parameters. Moving forward this is another aspect well have to take into consideration when plotting travel routes, especially in cases with remote points of origin. Our rigorous screening process will ensure your specimens are ready to go at the time of shipment. Ultimately our primary concern is determining which route will present the least amount of travel time so our animals will be subjected to as minimal amount of stress as possible, because in the end, what is best for our aquatics friends is the most important detail.

From our Short Supply Chain in Fiji, we have a good selection of MAC Male Melanurus Wrasses (Halichoeres melanurus). These are some of the most useful fish in the hobby, and from this supplier, they are next to bombproof.

From our unbelievable selection of cultured fish, the Aquacultured Black Saddleback Clownfish (Amphiprion polymnus) really stand out this week. The mediums are a very robust medium, and the colors on them are nice and dark.

On the extremely limited and awesome front, we have a Japanese White-Bar Bigeye Soldierfish (Pristigenys niphonia). Long name, sweet fish. It is conditioned like a puppy dog; the husbandry guys feed it silversides and other large meaty bits. He loves em.

We just got in a large shipment of Cultured Metallic Green Trumpet Coral (Caulastrea sp) that are just screaming green. This is a beautiful, hardy coral. Add a couple to your next order, you won't be disappointed.

We have a limited number of Pipe Organ Coral Colonies (Tubipora musica) in a few different sizes. These are are in really nice shape; great polyp extension and some very unique patterning on the polyps.

Lastly, we have a killer selection of Open Brain or Trachyphyllia Corals (Trachyphyllia geoffroyi) in a variety of colors and shapes. There are reds and greens that are either folded or cratered. Talk to your sales rep about picking out a couple.
