Updates on the Current Fish Shortages
As expected, the disruption in fish collection that we normally experience this time of year is in full swing. The rough sees affecting the Indian Ocean are contributing to the majority of the problems in our supply. Picture yourself in a 6 foot swell chasing a 2 fish in a coral head with a dip net and you get just a glimpse of what a collector is up against when the weather turns bad. Usually the catch is much less than expected so collectors usually avoid fighting the elements and wait for better weather. Fortunately, our extensive supply chain allows us the opportunity to utilize other sources to supplement these shortages.

Another issue that has arisen this year is the effect of high fuel prices and the residual fall-out as the frequency of international flights has decreased. This has created a void in available freight space usually reserved for perishable items. The list goes on, but we are working around the clock to provide the best fish & invertebrates available. Please remember to check our inventory frequently as we have multiple shipments arriving daily.
