The Picks

The changing seasons always make for challenging conditions, and this year is no different. Many of the areas where our collectors work have been experiencing everything from cyclones to weeks of torrential rain. Obviously these weather systems can dramatically change visibility, and even fish distribution, both of which can make fishing challenging, and in some cases dangerous or impossible.

At Quality Marine, we know this is coming and prepare for unexpected glitches in the supply line by maintaining higher levels of inventory at this time of year to withstand these types of interruptions. Many of the species that are common in the ornamental trade are wide ranging, which also allows us to shift some of our sourcing to different parts of our diverse portfolio of trusted, sustainable supply lines. The holiday season is nearly upon us, and we will continue to have the most diverse selection of the best quality stock for you, and ultimately, your customers.

This week, be sure to check out the Aquacultured Annularis Angels (Pomacanthus annularis). These are just excellent, eating everything, as healthy as can be, and some are sporting some interesting aberrant patterns. Also on the cultured front, we have a stupendous supply of Aquacultured Banggai Cardinals (Pterapogon kauderni) that are fully conditioned to people as feeders, and as fat as anything. Check them out.

On the invert side of the house there is some absolutely gorgeous soft corals that you should check out, especially the Aquacultured White Polyp Toadstool Leather Corals (Sarcophyton sp.) and the Aquacultured Kenya Tree Corals (Capnella sp.). While both of these are corals that you might otherwise not pay attention too, these are beautiful and priced well, so they will not remain unsold for long.
