The Picks

We are 2 weeks into the statewide ban of importation of Lionfish into Florida. When thinking about this as a business owner, keep in mind that only one genus of Lions has been banned. All fish belonging to the genus Pterois may not be imported. However, fish imported before the ban may still be sold, though need retain proof that those fish were in your possession before the ban began. According the the language of the bill supplied to us, Dwarf Lionfish from the genus Dendrochirus may also still be imported and sold. There is no ban on personal ownership of these animals at this point. People within the state may also continue to (and are encouraged to) harvest all genus of Lionfish locally. To avoid causing problems for our Florida customers, we are doing our best to be diligent about ensuring you don't inadvertently order a banned fish.

While we are no longer shipping Pterois genus Lionfish to Florida, we are selling Volitan Lions from there. This is one way we can continue to support efforts to control/curb/eliminate this species that is invasive to those waters.

There has been recent heavy storm activity in Hawaii, but we still have some Juvenile Chevron Tangs (Ctenochaetus hawaiiensis) in stock, and they are the perfect combination of size and brilliant juvie coloration. Even though recruitment of these was world class this year, post storm collection conditions are always tough and these should be trickier to come by in the next couple weeks. This batch is in excellent shape.

On the invert side of the house, we have an excellent batch of Aquacultured True Frogspawn (Euphyllia divisa) and they are in stupendous shape with excellent coloration and full, gorgeous polyp extension.

We also have a great selection of Plate Corals (Fungia sp.) in stock right now. There is a huge diversity of colors and a full range of sizes. If you have been looking for some plate corals, we probably have what you need.
