The Picks

As I watch the cleanup of the oil leak off the coast of Santa Barbara I am reminded of how fragile our industry is. The long range effects of this catastrophe could linger for quite a while. Take for example the gulf of Mexico and the BP oil spill almost 5 years ago exactly. Just yesterday I read an article about the ongoing issues with dolphins in the gulf. How can you extrapolate the effect the oil spill will eventually have on the delicate eco-system found here? You can't yet, we just have to clean up as best we can, and wait to see what comes of it. Our hearts are saddened with this most recent tragedy, and we're hoping for the best.

This week you should definitely check out the SSC Yellow Zoster Butterflies (Hemitaurichthys polylepis). These are in nice shape and are bigger than average. This is a striking schooling butterfly, and a big group of them would be amazing in a larger display.

For those of you looking for something waaay smaller, the Aquacultured Neon Gold Goby (Elacatinus figaro). These are perfect for desktop nanos. They have the bright gold stripe and are nice and chubby.

On the invert side of the house, we have a great selection of Aquacultured Ancora (Euphyllia ancora) in stock in a variety of colors. Add a few of these, you won't be disappointed.

We also have a more limited supply of very unique Bulb Anemones (Entacmaea quadricolor). While the Rose Bubbles are always lights out, we also have some "regular" ones that are much bigger than usual and sporting some very interesting colors. Don't hesitate on these, they are a great value.
