Reclassified Scolymia Coral Brings Trade Changes

Some of the Scolymia Coral that Quality Marine imports from Australia and Indonesia are now classified as Acanthophyllia deshayesiana, and their export is temporarily suspended. There are no existing CITES quotas for the new taxonomic designation, and so they cannot be exported until such quotas are established. This may not occur until early next year.
These were formerly listed at Quality Marine as Button Scolymia Coral (Scolymia sp.), in color morphs of Green, Red, Super Red, and Rainbow. They are now listed as Button Acanthophyllia Coral (Acanthophyllia deshayesiana), in the various color morphs.
The QM stocklist and website listings have been changed accordingly. You may view the new product listings for the genus Acanthophyllia here. Please contact your salesperson for any further information and updates.
