The Japanese Big Eye Soldierfish is found all over the Pacific and Indian Oceans, as long as it is at least 250 feet deep. It is a fish rarely seen in the marine aquarium trade because the logistics involved in harvesting this fish alive and healthy are beyond the scope of most operations. It is frequently harvested as a food fish and is considered a sushi delicacy by many.
