Photo of the Week - Cynarina lacrymalis

Cynaria lacrymalis is the only species in its genus and is commonly called Donut or Meat coral. They are usually found solitary, embedded in deep sandy areas adjacent to reefs. They come in a wide variety of colors, and the translucence of their polyps gives them a glowing look that you just don't find in many other corals. They prefer moderate light and low flow. Frequent meaty feedings will enhance size and coloration. Place in an area where their polyps won't strike rock or be overly buffeted by flow.
