Photo of the Week - Acropora valida

Acropora valida is a common coral with a very wide natural distribution. Contrasting color branch tips are a distinguishing feature of this sometimes bushy (caespitose) sometimes tabling coral. Other ID cues are: small colony size, small axial corallites, radial corallites are randomly sized, strongly appressed and swollen with small openings. Similar common corals include A. cerealis, A. nasuta, and A. nana.
