Photo of the Week - Acanthurus triostegus

Convict tangs (Acanthurus triostegus) can be found all over the Pacific. They sometimes form large schools and graze on algae. They are harvested as a food fish as well as an aquarium species. They are one of the more durable acanthurids, and their small adult size makes them good choices for a marine aquarium. Small groups may be maintained in large systems. Feed a varied diet that includes some marine based vegetation; live or dried algae is an ideal component to their diet.
