Photo Of The Week - Tiger Angelfish (Apolemichthys kingi)
Whether you call it Tiger or King Angelfish there is no doubt that the presence of Apolemichthys kingi catches any hobbyist's attention for its rarity. This elegant looking angelfish occurs along the South and Eastern parts of the African continent in the Indian Ocean. Although it has a somewhat wide range of occurrence, the Tiger Angelfish is rare to find in the hobby because it is collected in areas that are not commonly visited by divers. This fish measures about 8-9 inches in length, so make sure to provide it with an aquarium that is large enough of it to swim in. Try to recreate its natural reef habitat by including live rock decorations to create caves for it to seek refuge from the light. This is not a reef safe fish. Yet, it could live in an existing fish tank as long as extra precautions are taken. To keep it in optimal health feed it a wide variety of meaty frozen and dry foods, and sponges.
